Oh the horror stories I've heard about this. 5 resets in confirms it; I've picked up somebody's voided villager. Ren?e is now attempting to plot in the absolute worst spots in town (next to my Mayor's house, on top of my flower murals, on paths.) Yeah that's not happening. XP

I remember reading that it was possible to bypass this?​

There is indeed a way around this! What you need to do is TT back to the previous day with your 3DS clock, and then adopt a villager you like. That villager will override Ren?e.

I heard TT'ing to the last day you played (which may be yesterday) may prevent it, if the plot didn't show up then, because the game recognizes it the last day you played as the same day. I do remember reading it one thread where someone did that, but I'm not sure where it is now Dx

Lucky thing I decided to get rid of my lighthouse yesterday. It being back is a clear sign that TT worked perfectly.
Now I've got to find somebody to replace Ren?e.
