Normally I'm vigilant and will save roughly every half hour or so, but I had a late night last night and just ploughed through my game without doing so. I regret this.

Gloria was crawling with fleas and so I caught it for her. Then I went into my pockets to let it go whilst standing on a path and the game froze. The villagers were still walking about and I could suspend the game to go into friend list, notes etc, but the touch screen and buttons would not work and I couldn't come out of my pockets. I lost 2.5 hours work, including ordering and paying off a public work project and also 200,000 to my home loan plus all my watering, selling, remaking and time on island to earn that money etc. And I had to speak to Resetti who I lied to and told him my battery died.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is it because I tried to let a bug go on a path? I was playing the cartridge copy at the time, I'll eventually try it on my digital copy but I never play it so won't be laying paths for a loooong time!

I am so angry I'm tting back to last night to water and then going to today when I'm done. And I hate tting, but refuse to let flowers wilt when I'm trying hybrids for the very first time.

I don't think so, I've let bugs out on paths plenty of times and this hasn't happened to me once.

This happened to my husband and made him really frustrated. He was down on his beach with no paths nearby. Our guess is that his inventory was full so he was forced to release the flea and then because the bug-free villager wanted to thank him but couldn't, a bug was triggered. Ever since we've been careful to only catch fleas when we have space in our inventories and it hasn't happened again.

That's quite scary. :O I'll keep this in mind too for when I go flea-catching.

Wow, good luck to the people with 99% of their town as paths! I'd just give up on AC for a while if I lost all that.

My game froze when a villager planted a flower where I was standing. Everything kept going but I couldn't move or bring up any of the menus.

I think mine froze just out of nowhere once. Nothing was moving and I couldn't pull anything up either. Luckily I had just booted up the game though.

I'm sorry you lost all that work! The bugs are bugs.

I just tested this theory and my game didn't freeze for some reason.

Oh! Thank you for testing that, Walker! I've been too lazy to science. I guess that bug we ran across must be more complicated than I assumed.

I had a similar experience on Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, but there was no sound after I opened it from Sleep Mode and it froze when I pressed the HOME button...

I've released fleas before with full inventories and never had a problem. I have had a freeze after playing for a while though. It may be that with 2.5hrs of play time, the game simply ran out of memory or steam. I've found it helps to shut the game off every now and again. Just to clear any memory backlog. And saving regularily is an absolute must. I save after every thing I do or just randomly because I think it's been too long.

I've definitely released fleas before when my inventory was full and it was fine, so I don't think it was that. Sorry it happened to you though!
