Issue with fossil letters?

I’ve gotten letters a few times now from my villagers that talk about a fossil as if they have attached one to the letter, but there is no gift attached at all. It’s ONLY with ones about fossils, any other sort of letter that talks about a gift does have the proper thing attached. What’s up with fossil letters that they’re always empty?

I’ve never got a fossil from a villager! I didn’t know they gifted them. Maybe it’s a glitch?

Interesting! I have gotten letters where they talk about something, no gift attached, and I took it as a hint that they wanted one.
