Catchable Floaty Thing
Hi everyone! New to the forum, I read the rules but feel free to point out any faux pas in my first post, here.
I joined this forum for the purpose of seeking out those interested in RP, specifically in the goal of collaborating on an expansive player-created in-game world where we can have little adventures and get more out of the barest of bones this title currently provides when it comes to multiplayer. I've been working since launch not only on compiling user-created games on my island, but also coming up with what amounts to a combat system that can be played anywhere in the game, which I call Kudamono.
My intention is to fit that into an ongoing world made up of as many player's islands as we can get involved. If you're interested I'll explain the combat in-game, since that's just easier and I've written about it at length on my island's bulletin board.
Here's a synopsis I wrote up, I tried to leave it open-ended enough that everyone interested can engage in the same overarching world while leaving avenues open for whatever storyline players want within that:
"On a vast sea dotted with islands, empires older than history battle for control of the remains of a celestial power that brought their world to life. Since primordial moments, starlight has bathed the isles of Horizons, gracing the world with power, embuing the soil with strength, and raising fruit to spread that power among the people. They used this power to shape the land to their liking, but struggled against one another for control of that land.
Kingdoms formed around each breed of fruit, pillars of progress and also of pillaging, deeply and bitterly entrenched in a rivalry that ravaged the people while the shoguns made away with the spoils. War raged on, millenia old conflicts necessitating the foundation of the Schools of Arms, organizations meant to instruct members on the use of special Tools in combat against enemy nations. The Schools of Spade, Axe, Net, Rod, Water, Sling, Music, Uchiwa, and the all-important, all-powerful Wand pass down their wisdom to those with the drive to receive it.
In the new age, tensions have settled to a great degree, and many of the people of Horizons resign themselves to the company of their Animal companions, free from the turmoil of ancient conflicts but still under the thumb of tyrannical empires. Their shoguns thirst for more and more star power, from the golden minerals that give brilliant strength to the tools from which they are made, to the star fragments used to craft the most powerful tools in the land, the Magic Wands.
But in spite of their greed, or perhaps in service of it, the empires have come together to sign a peace treaty, to bring about a hundred year celebration of peace and prosperity, Festivale, where the greatest champions of each kingdom come together and test their strength in a contest of Kudamono, the customary martial art of Horizons for prizes of wealth and glory. But the end goal is still the same for these monarchs - someone will come out on top."
Ultimately it would be cool to have people claim the role of Shogun of Peaches, Pears, Cherries, Apples or Oranges, and those who would serve under them, and maybe even more branching kingdoms like that of the Mushroom or Acorn, or even the Egg lol
Anyhoo, I hope this all sounds interesting to... someone. lol
Thanks for reading, and feel free to ask any questions you have and let me know if you want to get involved!
