Island tours for badges?

This may have been answered before, but I was wondering. Is it possible to use island tours to get badges associated with the activities? For example, doing the balloon tour a couple of times would net you the balloon popping badge.

Yes I believe they do count. For example, the balloon hunting tours count toward the balloon badge, and the bug hunting tours count toward your bug catching badge etc.

That's actually what I wanted to do it for. I'm on silver for all of them, so I can earn several badges at once by just spamming tours. Thanks for the help!

This is contrary to everything I've ever heard. Everyone says you don't get badge credit for balloons, fish or bugs you catch/pop on tour. I believe that's the case, since I have been bronze on balloons for a long time. Fish and bugs caught on non-fish or bug tours do count. To count, you have to get the catchphrase when you catch them.

I've been playing for over a year now. I got my bronze balloon badge a couple of months ago.
I went on a lot of balloon tours. Pop 40 Plus balloon each time I did a tour. Got no badge when I returned.

It has to be in your town.
