When I'm talking about New Horizons, I often find myself calling my island a town, since I'm so used to doing that in the older games. This made me wonder what other people are more likely to call it.

I expect the people who started with New Horizons will almost exclusively call it an island, since they wouldn't have any habits from the older games. I also wonder if anyone who starts with NH, then plays an older game will find themselves calling their town an island.

I played Wild World and New Leaf, but I call my home in New Horizons an island. I also tend to call the animals my islanders or my residents, more than my villagers. I don't bring many of my old habits from the other games into NH. For one thing, my memory is like a sieve. For another, I like to treat every iteration of AC as a new game. So I don't have expectations and I just enjoy and play with whatever I've been given. :)

The image of an island already sank to me a long time ago! :)

I used to play New Leaf. But I don't see myself grabbing that game ever again. Island life is where I am at!

I still say town sometimes, especially when I play with friends I've played NL with. Though I always call them villagers, not islanders.

I say island and I've played all the previous series. It helps too I've embraced the island life than a town setting. So it just sticks.

The hardest habit to kick is calling the islanders, 'islanders' not villagers.

i say town and will probably continue to do so because... it's still a town. being on an island doesn't change that tbh, especially not once you've unlocked terraforming and got 10 villagers.

I say town by accident sometimes but more officially I'll call it an island. Of course I think most of us have set up towns on our islands, which doesn't make it more or less a town OR an island, which means neither one really bothers me.

I call it an island most times, but I also have the time when typing it out to correct myself if I do manage to think town as I am typing,

I do say villagers more though for my animal inhabitants. It's just easier than saying islanders (even though that is what they are) because everyone is so used to calling them villagers. Why change it now?

^^I do the same as theduke! I call it an island because I'm pretty rooted in island life now, but it's so much more natural to say 'villagers' than 'islanders'; calling them islanders just makes me think of love island which is for sure not what this game is about :p

I probably say town because it’s what I’m used to. But, I think the game definitely feels more like an island, for obvious reasons. :P But, luckily the “island life” aesthetic isn’t 100% forced onto you I don’t think. Giving you the freedom to do what you want with things.

I say both by habit, leaning more towards island. However, my island is segmented into a “town” area with the majority of my island being a feral forest, so island would work better there.

I always refer to it as my New Horizons island, as opposed to the previous games that I refer to as towns. As for the animals, I still find myself saying villagers because I'm used to that being the term people have used for years in New Leaf, though I also just call them residents at times too.

I interchange between island and town. But I refer to my residents as villagers and don’t see that changing anytime to soon.

I used to say town a lot because of past games but now I've gotten to only say island. However I still call my residents my villagers.

I try to call it my "island," but sometimes I accidentally say "town" because of NL!
