So, I finally paid off my house in full. No more expansions, no more loan payments. Next up, I'm finally going to start finishing up my base infrastructure plans (I say base, because I can change everything up later based on feedback from how it's looking overall), however I'm also reaching a phase where I'm ready to start fixing up my island.

One of the big things that's getting me is island decorating. Whether it's placing Nook Miles furniture or outdoor furniture that can be crafted and/or bought in the store, I just feel like I have no clue where I'm going to be going with the overall look and design for my island. I don't have a theme planned out at all, with the exception of having all my bridges be red zen bridges (doesn't really count though if it's just for bridges, does it? xD).

I don't plan to terraform my island. Aside from being horrible with terraforming tools (my track record in RCT3 speaks for itself) I like the whole natural look of my island's base layout....so I have to work around that when coming up with ideas for decorating the island. I can understand if people need to see the map layout before offering advice but using this one simple rule: No terraforming allowed, can anyone give me advice on some ideas for decent island decoration that I can utilize for my island?

Also, I do intend to do some fencing around my house to make a yard, so that's already on the to-do list.

I'd love to see what you have planned.

I've mentioned elsewhere that I've done minor changes, and I appreciate the work going into the major reworks, but I actually have more respect for someone who uses only what they started with and makes something amazing. It takes a lot more ingenuity and creativity that way.

Here are some suggestions of general areas you could work on:
- Public park, could include a large pond, maybe some sporting areas like a mini football pitch or basketball area
- Fairground / arcade, you could include the teacup ride, popcorn machine, arcade machines and pinball machines
- Outdoor cafe, an area with lots of tables and chairs and the different table top furniture like coffee cups and tea sets
- Graveyard / Shrine area, since the Western-stone DIY is essentially a gravestone, and there are several shrine based items in the game. You could include candles and stone DIY items to make it a peaceful place.
- Picnic area, you could lay down a custom QR pattern to make a blanket, then place a music player and food furniture on the blanket.

Hopefully there's something in there you like, good luck with designing your island!

I do like the fairground and outdoor cafe ideas. Cafe will probably be the quickest to make, since I can craft outdoor stuff easily.

I would strongly recommend watching 5 star island tours on youtube or looking at screenshots that people share. I've gotten so many ideas just by these and I write them down so I don't forget.

I don't have a set theme either and I'm not going for one either but right now mine is basic and you can basically find these in any other islands. At the moment I have these areas:

- playground
- carnival ( not unlike others. i think i just went crazy overboard in this area)
- outdoor arcade (this connects with my carnival. many have an arcade room and I thought why not an outdoor one)
- sitting area (so this is next to 6 villager homes. I wanted them to have a near by place where they can sit down and read and I'm happy whenever I see a villager sit down to read)
- zen area (made a third level for two villager homew with zen exterior. I used most of the bamboo diys i had and stone diys to just basically decorate around their home and below the second level)
- cafe shop
- restaurant shop ( i went for a retro dining area)

I'm planning other areas but I'm trying to get items for that.

Hey there, if you'd like you can come to my island for inspiration! I would love to have visitors and I have been working really hard on it!

aside from the recommended park/playground/cafe options, on my island i have:

-crafting station (tables with materials ready to use, iron shelf, utility sink, etc)
-farm (rows on ground for turnips, scarecrow, silo, misc farming/gardening equipment)
-japanese rock garden (sand lines pattern on ground + rocks and bonsai)
-fishing area on the beach (mostly fishing tourney item prizes)

as others have said, looking at 5-star islands on youtube is also a great place for inspiration!
