Just needed to get this out of my system since it really bothers me. Apparently, Isabelle’s report feature doesn’t permanently reset a villager’s wardrobe. For whatever reason it seems to be a bug that Nintendo overlooked yet again. I have a couple of villagers I adopted from someone else (and payed tons of NMTs for) that are wearing rather... tasteless clothes. So far, we know that:
While I love the option of being able to customize your villagers’ clothing choices (as it always has been), there should also be an option for us to reset these permanently. For instance, to much horror, some players adopted villagers that carry malicious custom clothing with them. This can be dangerous especially if you have kids playing with you. I’m 90% sure this is a bug as it would be questionable if they’d put a feature that’s completely useless.
In line with this, I wish there’s also a way to remove custom clothing from the Able’s shop. I have a couple of designs I put up when I was still unaware of this issue.
Knowing Nintendo, I don’t know how long it will take them to address this issue, or if they’re even aware of it.
Reporting to Isabelle only temporarily ‘resets’ their clothing, but they will eventually still cycle those clothes. Some players even report that they will even wear it again after just a few minutes.
Villagers who have had custom clothing from their previous islands will still carry that custom clothing with them. This is what bothers me most.
