I recently thought of a cute town name that I might use for the next AC switch game, but I don't want to reveal it just yet. It's a possible name that I might use, but I also like the town name Pumpkin cause I love fall and that is literally the most common thing during that season. Also, the town name I thought was not on the Dream Suite, so it's pretty unique. Might reveal it next year. c:

I took my town name from a game with the town name that I really liked. For, idk, copywrite reasons Im not gonna say what game but its on pc.

I'm currently on my third town due to relying on a cheap sd card. My town is Suncoast like the store that used to exist in malls and sold $30 anime dvds that had like 4 episodes on it.
The name Willow definitely isn't unique but I don't really mind. I figured it'd be a pleasant name for a pleasant small town so I just went with that. I've seen another town called Willow on this forum before too, and I think it's kind of cool when that happens.
New Town is so redundant. So yeah, many towns with that name.
I actually haven't checked for Moriyo or Treehut. I want to imagine that there won't be many with that name, esp since I made up Treehut.
My next town, Secret, is somewhat common. I know of a tumblr user with that name as one of her themed dream towns.
As for my Switch town, I have 2 names in mind. I looked them both up and they are quite common, but that's for NL. Maybe once the switch AC comes out there won't be many with those names.

Nope. I named my first ever town Heaven because my sister made hers Hell, my mom's was Paradise, and I also just liked the sound of it. Now that I'm older, my current and best town ever is named Haven. As tribute to Heaven. Haven is really my safe Haven though, I love my town and I put so much time and effort into it. It's become very important to me. It really did live up to its name.
Hmmm I have yet to actively sought out towns that share the same names as mine.
I am sure,though, they are out there.

Callobee, Tamago, Mori, Seibu & Hokkaido
Callobee is a tribute to my beloved Glitch MMO 2010 -2012. RIP I will never forget you ; __ ;
It's a variation of one of the locations in-game, Callopee . It was probably the very first place my newbie Glitch character came across/remembered when I first joined the game. Good times, good times....
Guess I semi-consciously wanted a little sparkle of reminder of the Glitch-y days,
when I found a new home in ACNL.
Tamago is taken from a line from the anime version of Natsume Yuujinchou. In that episode where Natori is inviting Natsume to accompany him on a hot spring trip? Nyanko Sensei is outside the restaurant window meowing about onsen tamago. So there. Town of Tamago it is, with Mayor, Onsen. Some of the forum members might still have a villager or two from that town lol.
Now, Mori & Seibu and Hokkaido (especially Mori & Hokkaido) I'm sure are pretty common.
Well, one of the forum collectible Mori happens to be my all-time favorite. So there. Also Animal Forest.
I am not bothered by the thought that someone else out there share the same town names as mine.
What I'd like is for Nintendo to increase the limits on the letters, so we have more freedom and choices when deciding on our town names in the future. And yes, I'd definitely go for a 'unique' or something fun/make up for my next town.

Good idea to not reveal it! I’m sure we will be able to have more choice with town names in the new AC game!
Let’s jusy wait and see. But after all, even a simple name like pumpkin is rally cute for a town! As long as the name makes you happy, everything works
Willow is super cute! Sometimes I use that name for characters when I play MMORPGS. I would also call a pet Willow.

I can’t wait to see the endless possibilities that we will have regarding town names in the ne AC for switch. I don’t know why but I feel we will have a lot of choices and town names will probably be able to be longer and with more words!
From all the responses I read by now I realized that most of people don’t care if their name is already used, and I learned also that many of you chose really cool unique names! But even the most common names mean something special to people, and that’s enough to make a town unique and meaningful even if they name was already taken ^_^
