I named my town Sakura because I liked it and I felt a connection to the name. I never thought about whether or not it might be popular.
One day, I randomly decided to search the dream suite for other towns with my town name and was surprised to see that there were quite a lot. But the name being popular didn't change my feelings about it. If I were to do it all over again, I'd still choose the same name. It's nice to be unique, but the most important thing is being happy with your choice.
Yea you’re right, If you like it that what counts. But in my case, I can’t help but feeling a little disappointed because when I created the town I didn’t see any other Gelato around
And now there is :/ anyways next time, if the Switch AC will allow us, maybe I’ll choose a 2 or 3 words name for my village!
my town name is Bellinor, my bf came up with it for me about a year ago (and I restarted a few days ago) and I haven't seen anyone with it or anything similar to it? I prefer trying to come up with my own town names, and yeah I think I'd be a little upset if someone else took it

Hard to say. With so many current towns, I have enough trouble not duplicating any now. IF we're allowed to name our Switch towns and, IF we're restricted to only 8 characters and IF this and IF that..I'll probably just go ahead and make the same boneheaded spur of the moment mistakes, like deciding at the time Rover asks. IF Rover asks.IF it's ROVER on the scooter/bike/trike/train/stagecoach/taxi/bus/uber/schooner/frigate/balloon/plane/saucer/beam...crap!
Hahahaha!! Honestly, I think on the switch we will be able to use longer words, and even multiple words! I mean I feel it’s going to be like that! A lot more freedom and a lot better than how it is now, I feel it! XD

I actually have no idea! I unlocked dream suite quite a while ago but never tried uploading my town or using it or anything (since my town is a huge mess right now and not ready for foreign eyes just yet HAHA) but I'll walk in next time during business hours and see if Felicity is a popular name or not! It is the name of another ACNL villager (that I didn't know when choosing the name) so it's not a unique word or anything I'd say!
Felicity is the happy peppy cat if I remember correctly!
Maybe the best thing is to just pretend your town name is unique and not even look on the DA list Hahaha! But I just found the other Gelato town here on the forum, in a post from a new user. So it was there behind my eyes xD
Mines not overly unique, i've seen a lot of people name their town Oakwood. I somewhat regret naming it Oakwood now, because i chose that name on a whim. I have an inactive town called Moss and i love that name so much better
I visited a Oakwood DA! The name is very cool though, but Moss is really cute too! Maybe you’ll use that last name for the new AC game ^^
I usually check the dream suit and search for towns with the name that I want to create, just to make sure no one else has made it.
What if someone creates a town with the same name of yours after you? And maybe they took inspiration from you. Would you be cool with it or disappointed?

I actually got my town’s name, Roselake, from a random town name generator or something because I was having trouble coming up with a name myself. However, I think that there are a few more towns with the same name, but not that many.
I really like it! Good choice. Atleast here on the forum I never seen anyone with a town named like that. Sometimes name generators can give good ideas!
