Hi I'm using TT to get a villager ready for trade and for whatever reason I feel really guilty about it! For example I had t&t mart and shampoodles under construction and them after I had TT they were both complete! Also I had a villager called Lopez moving in and with TT he was moved in right away! When things like this happen I can't help feeling really really bad, like I've cheated. What's your opinion on time traveling and should I use it for trades or should I just try and be patient as hard as that may be

Thanks for reading :)

It really depends. I personally am against it but people will freak if I say anything bad about TT, so, ehh.

I tt all the time, I don't consider it cheating. Its just how I like to play the game. I consider duping cheating (which is probably why its against the rules)

It depends!
If your time traveling for villagers I don't think thats bad as your helping someone!
If your doing hoildays and special events I think that is bad!

Just do what makes the game fun for YOU. In the end all that matters is that you have fun playing AC.
It doesn't matter if someone likes TT and the other person doesn't. You're the one playing the game to enjoy yourself, so please do whatever makes it fun for you ;)

If you don't want to TT, then don't.
It's up to you and it's your game to play however you want. If someone gets angry at you for it, then don't play NL with them.

I consider it cheating. Because I feel like the game's meant to be played in a real-time basis and time traveling to a day it isn't in real life kind of takes the whole point out of the 'game that continues on even when you're not playing' selling point Animal Crossing has always had.

Sucks the fun out of slowly playing the game if you're time traveling all over the place and accomplishing goals quickly. Animal Crossing just isn't a 'get everything you want as quickly as possible' type of game in my eyes. You're supposed to take it slowly.

But that's just my opinion, of course.

I dont consider it cheating.....its an option that the devs put in there to play at your own pace.

I dont do simply because i like playing in real time....if i miss a turnip, furniture, event, etc. then i'll live with it... getting things done quickly seems like it would make me bored quicker.

only thing i consider cheating is duping!....thats not how the game was intended to be played

Eh, "cheating"? I don't do it, but I can see why some people do, given all the time restrictions in Animal Crossing. At the same time, I'm wary to trade with Time Travelers, and I'm definitely less impressed by people who achieve great things while TTing. It makes their achievements less impressive, to me.

The game has a built-in option for the purpose of changing the time. Maybe the devs thought not everybody can play during the strict hours you can enjoy ACNL to the fullest. But yeah, holiday hoping for items is not what its purpose is, I think.

It's not cheating though there are people who probably consider it as such. If it was really cheating, then the option to change the date and time shouldn't be available in the menu. It's a game where you can choose to go at whatever pace you like because after all it is just game that you purchased for yourself to enjoy.

i'm sure nintendo just classified it as a way of playing the game. it wouldn't be a feature if it wasn't for using.

i kind of think it's cheating but i do it anyway, despite how bad i feel and how it ****s the game up for me. i always forget where i am in the game and what i have to do after time-travelling... so it kind of sucks. i don't do it for anything major though... just for my fun. i don't TT further than 4 days ahead anyway.

I consider it cheating, but most of the time the forums panic when someone argues TTing because most people do it and/or can be super sensitive to the idea that they're cheating.

EDIT:
I think people forget often that the biggest idea about Animal Crossing is about laying back and taking things as they come. That's why Resetti is there to yell at you if you reset. He constantly tells you live with it and play the game in a very specific way, aka in real-time with no take-backs. You can't time-travel in real life, just like you can't reset in real-life. The developers wanted you to play this game without having a complete sense of control. That's why villagers' houses land anywhere, why there's ugly villagers, and time is real-time. There's no time machine in the game, people just exploit the options menu.

But if you want to cheat in the game, then cheat in the game. Just at least admit that you're cheating.

I TT because I'm just not a patient person when it comes to PWPs and hybrid farming. On account of cheating, I think TT is not cheating because the game does acknowledge that people do it, and if they really wanted to stop that (and consider it cheating), they'd program the game to only allow small time changes such as DST. Don't know how they'd do it, but that's my thought. Duping, though, I do believe is cheating.

That's your opinion. Does it mean it's cheating? Not necessarily. Until nintendo dismisses TT'ing as cheating, I'm not taking your word for it.
