Cheri was in boxes today, and I had someone from discord visit and get her to move to her island. I checked on her later today, and he house is still there, but I can't enter it. When I try to, it says "I've Moved Out. – Cheri".

Is this the I moved out glitch that everyone is talking about? Will her house just stay there forever?

Nope. Once they get adopted, you can no longer talk to them or walk into their house and the "I've Moved Out" note will be present.
It was the same in New Leaf.

When your villager is adopted, the "I moved out" will show up until the next day.
