I've recently heard that if you replace all of the premade designs in Able Sisters with umbrella, dresses, or hat designs, then it prevents villagers from changing into them.

Is this possible? Because if it is, it'll stop my villagers from changing out of their original clothes, which takes me forever for them to start wearing again when I send it to them.

Derp I read wrong.
That might work.. Try It out :0

It might be the saving grace to villagers changing into ugly designs. :o

Though I have two villagers wearing the designs I put up in Able Sisters (which are really ugly) and I wonder if I replace it with an umbrella design, what will happen to their clothes.

It will probably be kept on because when switching out those standard designs with my own, they still had them on

Boo. Oh well. I guess I'll just go back to putting a shirt in my invo and harass my villagers until they decide to trade for it or buy and then wear it.

If you want them to wear something specific, try sending it to them in a letter. Most of the time, once they get the letter, they change into the clothes you sent them.

I changed the designs in Able's to umbrellas and none of my villagers have worn the designs. c:

If you want them to stop wearing a design, you can go to Isabelle and report a problematic villager. This will make then wear an equally ugly white and red t-shirt, but it's better than duckies and cheer leader outfits.

I've sent my villagers clothes and they've never worn them >.<

I've done this so many times, but they don't always change into the clothes. If there is an open space for it in their house, they'll set it up there instead of wearing it. So it's a bit of a waste.

Ohh, so that's why some villagers change clothes and others don't. I was wondering about that. It seems a lot more reliable than pestering a villager in the hope they'll ask to buy the clothing, and a lot faster than waiting for them to change on their own, though.

That's true. But I'm a bit tired of having to keep reordering the clothes and send it to them until they start wearing it. It destroys their house with clothes. :P

Yes, it is true. That's what I do in my town, I just change every design to a blank umbrella, and then they don't change into any of the other clothes. Also, if you want them to put on their original shirt I suggest getting it in a tank (I don't know if they can change into one with sleeves) and having it be the only thing in your inventory, then go talk to them constantly (until they say they can't talk because they're thinking of something) usually they will offer to trade or buy the shirt, and they'll put it on right away

I did the talking thing successfully with Stitches, though it wasn't with his original shirt. It did get him out of one of the ugly designs.

I tried filling up my invo with tools and flowers and then with one slot being the original shirt, but they mostly just start getting to the thinking stage.
