So I've resetted for my town, and I finally found a town with decent starters(can't have ugly ones on my Main Street) along with OK layout, but I'm unsure about my mayor's house location.
I wanted to ask the opinions on people here about my layout and house location. If I've made a mistake, then I'm doomed to reset again.

In my opinion, you shouldn't let other peoples' opinions influence you to the point you'll keep resetting as soon as people find a 'mistake with it'. Your perfect map is undoubtedly going to be not so perfect in the eyes of others, and vice versa.

I know it's clich?, but don't you think it's the most important that you're happy with your town?

Yeah, and I'm pretty much happy with my town, but I'm still unsure whether I should keep it or not. I just wanted opinions whether it's good or bad.
And if I put cafe, police station, bridges and campsite, where should I put those? Thinking to put cafe on the space on the bottom half(below my house), but I'm still not really sure. Also, I still only have 5 villagers.

In my opinion a town is good when there's nothing that immediately strikes you with this "oh noeees" or "something's wrong" feeling. Everything else would just be an endless story of nitpicking. You'll always find something to critize if you keep looking long enough. But I know that there are people who put a lot of effort into planning everything perfectly. Well, you'll have to decide. I like the layout and I think I'd give it a go. :)

not really to be honest unless you build a bridge at once and/or place your house top left..

For me it looks good. But how many permament rocks does it have? and are they interfering with potential PWP placements.

That's one of my main issues. There's 2 of them in the top left of the plaza. Dunno about the others since they're spread over but I guess they don't really interfere.

Also, I have bad slope placements, plus the one which goes to the dock is horizontal, not vertical.

I go for a "straight" sort of river with only one "turn" so i can plan my town equally.

Plaza and Re-Tail placements are almost perfect and Town Hall isn't bad, but the slopes are awkwardly placed and the one goes to the dock is horizontal not vertical.
I built the house there so that I could have a big private space(it's for the mayor after all) but 95% of the 1st villager that moved in moved in front of my house.

Since I prefer fishing, I think the slope locations may be a big problem for me. Guess I'll have to go back to square one.

EDIT: I could offset the slopes by bridges but it's still pretty far away.

I think it's a pretty good map :), there's a few things I dislike (mainly the strip of land at the top left corner, never liked that in a map) but nothing that would make me reset. The only opinion that matters is your own really, are you happy with it? If yes then keep it, I don't think there's ever going to be a completely perfect map which everyone likes. I've never reset my map, kept the same one I started with. I'm sure lots of people would find fault with it but I think I've made it work, and I like it :).

it has its pros and cons, for a con the strips of land are too narrow and would be a little difficult to use most of your land effectively, your retail is near the train station which is great for visitors but if you are a beetle hunter it would be bad. it's nice how the town hall is in the center though, and the big area of land beneath the town plaza. i saw keep it, or if you want you could keep looking.

Things i like about your town, only one pond and retail location.
Other than that, personally i prefer near straight river across the map, and the whole beach is link, except maybe one corner where u need to swim over.
That way there's no need for me to run up and down just to get to the other beach.

But as campy say, your own preference is the most important.

I like it, but if something niggles at you just reset again.
Something that niggles now will niggle later and it's better to reset again when you've put nothing in.

Don't ever settle for things.
Like my new town, I really wanted oranges as my native fruit but kept getting apples. Even though some amazing villagers were in the apple towns, if I settled for apples I would want to reset later.
