Is there no way for me to back up my save? Details in post

I haven’t played in a while and really want to restart, but I have tons of stuff I earned that I don’t want to lose. I have two switches technically and was planning on transferring my island, but the other person who sometimes uses my 2nd switch has save data so I cannot transfer to that.


Am I really forced to delete my save to fix this?
Back in new leaf days I bought 3 copies of the game to fix this issue, but I cannot simply buy a 3rd switch, if there’s no way to get past this I guess I won’t be able to play after all.

Outside of hacking, there really isn't a way to maintain multiple islands on one console. One thing you can do is use your character to transfer anything you like or want to keep to your other island. If you only have one game card between both Switches and a NSO account, try getting an online friend to hold on to your stuff so you can reset.
