I'm not homeschooled...I guess it would be cool though...

Anyways, at a post made by Bul a couple of pages back...: Why would someone who likes DBZ a lot talk about how many tentacles the dragon has...if I knew people who liked DBZ I would be talking about the fights and stuff...

Also, at school I talk to this one person in my class about Naruto, football, and other stuff.

Also, at school I talk to this one person in my class about Naruto, football, and other stuff. All of my friends that I made in previous years, or that I've been friends with are not in my class. Well, a couple are in a couple of classes with me. Anyways, there's nothing wrong with anime...I don't sit in the corner of the classroom reading manga, but during free reading time I always read something Star Wars related.

On another note, I think that homeschoolers are way less social than "publicschoolers". If we take a normal homeschooler and a normal publicschooler and compare the homeschooler will be less social. But like Bul, he participates in different stuff, meeting new people. If Bul was a homeschooler who did nothing, yes he would not be social.
Not true, not true, and, once again, not true. Let's take a REAL example instead of thinking up some fake ones.

My uncle had his wedding in the beginning of September, and my whole family was invited. I was to be seated next to other teens and the cameraman. When we got there, I started talking, but to my surprise, the teens were not social at all... And they were all public schooler. So I started talking to the cameraman, and we talked for a really long time... After all was said and done, he told my uncle personally that he liked me the best out of all the people at our table.

Goes to show you who's more social. That's just one example, and even though EVERYONE is different, you cannot, absolutely CANNOT create stereotypes like that.
Like Storm said, it depends on the person. (Was that Storm?) And like I said, it would be harder to make new friends being homeschooled all your life.
Right, and that's exactly why you should not create stereotypes. As I have already said, I'm way more social than the typical public schooler, so there you go... As for it being harder to make friends, actually, in most cases, you ARE right, but if you live in the right neighborhood and in the best environment, then, oftentimes, it can even be easier.

Okay, apparently this discussion is continuing.

But the main point that everyone continues to say here is "IT DEPENDS ON THE PERSON". So, SuperNaruto, you can't really say that Homeschoolers are less social. Even if you take the "average" homeschooler, because thats a bit of a stereotype right there. You're trying to say that the average homeschooler is not too active...and I guess you can state you're opinion and all, but once again...it depends on the person.
Not that average one, one that participates in nothing and a normal person who participates in nothing.
You're not understanding one crucial thing...

For a homeschooler, participating in events is a substitute for the socialization one gets in school. So yes, of COURSE a publicly-schooled person would get more social contact if he participated in nothing compared to a homeschooler who participated in nothing. But here's where it evens out; if you're in public school, you don't have time for as many events.

Hang on...if the normal homeschooler and the normal publicschooler both did nothing, neither would be active...that doesnt make much sense..

He means extra-curricular activities or participation in social gatherings... If both did nothing, then yes, the public schooler would get more social interaction because he would have it by just attending school, no extra stuff required.

Exactly my point, which is why I said that extra-curricular activities are the heart of homeschooling socialization...

(Boy, this has really been a great discussion, although it's still not the longest thread in off-topic!)

(Really? Well, its the longest one in a while, atleast...)

@Everyone: So are we all agreed? No more stereotyping or anything? It all depends on the persons conditions?

Yes, of course. Stereotypes = bad.

(I just shot down this conversation. )
