Is there any incentive to keep doing the Bug-Off/Fishing Tournaments?

I don't think you understand what I'm saying. Firstly, it isn't difficult to get the rewards even on your own in under an hour. You'd have to barely play the Tournament to miss out on the rewards. Also, I was able to get the Fishing trophies quickly because the game encourages and rewards you with extra points for working together. We had lots of fun, and by the end of the evening I had a Golden Trophy. Not once was I intending to 'grind', not did I see myself as grinding - otherwise I would have stopped.

My issue here is the idea of the competition in its current state seems to make it difficult to need to come back save for getting the rest of the trophies - as the majority of people will have all of the rewards if not from the first tournament, by the time it comes around again they will have all of the prizes. Don't forget your points carry over too, so you'll probably get all of the trophies in just a few tournaments.

I think it would have been better if they had just made it a competition between you and the villagers again with a cute ceremony at the end, or changed the rewards every year (which could happen). I just don't feel like there's enough in these tournaments to make me want to come back after a few of them, which is a shame, since they are a lot more intricate and there is room for improvement.

:)
I know a lot of people on here probably got all the items today but I wasn't one of them so to me it makes sense that it's more spread out.
I mean not everyone has the time to devote 2-3 hours to playing and I'd also assume that the grind could be tiring - I kind of ended up just wrapping it up early because I wasn't feeling too well.

As for the competition in NL, I kind of found it boring because it was easy to cheat your way through it - you could basically do lots of bug/fish hunting on the Island prior and just submit all the critters.
I did like the ceremony and the idea of competing against the villagers but I didn't think it had more in terms of replayability and once you got the gold trophy it was kind of whatever. I did it. There's really no point in going through it again.

Hopefully next year they will change with an update, but for this summer all the prizes are the same.

I just want the Nook Mile achievement really. Besides that, I might want doubles of certain items at that point so might grind points to get items. The Bug Off items are cute ^_^ and for the fishing, I wouldn't mind more fishing rod stands and those fish posters.

The thing that disappoints me the most is the goal change in these tournaments: if I remember correctly, on New Leaf, we had to catch the biggest fish (for bugs, I don't know). Here, the size of fish and bugs no longer exists. It's sad.
The time to catch the different animals is three minutes? Too short in my eyes. Unnecessary stress. The goal in itself is not very attractive, and there is not really any more challenge with our friends the villagers.
As for objects, I don't know. What more could they offer on these themes? I've no idea. But it is certain that the interest will disappear quickly for many players when the tournaments will succeed. I hope that the future will offer us a nice update with a competition that is really one and that excites us all.
(For me, CJ's items are the most beautiful, even if it is useless, I want to say it)

Also, after now bug-hunting for an hour, I'm having a TON of fun. I got a lot of the items (and will probably pick it up again in a bit to get that butterfly wall), and there are some I'd like dupes of.
And I haven't had this much fun just playing NH in a long time! When was the last time I bothered with a drone beetle or common bluebottle? Or had an excuse to madly dash around my island like this? (I mean, I developed a little circuit to my flower patches after a couple rounds, but still.) And I got tons of balloons from running around the map!
There was was less tension here than with the fishing tourney - waiting for a fish to bite, the line to sink, how many times I pulled it up after the timer went off. Just bug-catchin' fun.

I got four termite mounds, so that was cool. But then I placed the toy roach and smashed my Switch, so my island is gone now.
