Is there any benefit to having every personality type?

When I've read that DIYs and reactions were based on personality types, I tried to get all of them. But I got reactions and DIYs from other personality types as well. So it wasn't totally exclusive at all.

So I went and just have guys (cranky, jock, smug & lazy) in my island.

Please be true! O: Especially for the reactions, because i can always buy the DIY recipe.

Actually, you also get random DIY's from bottles on the beach - so you can still get different recipe types that way.
If you have amiibo cards, you can also invite them to your campsite for a chance to get a new recipe.
The only advantage is learning the different reactions (as someone mentioned) and the dialogue. But, personally, it is up to you if the dialogue doesn't bother you. I will have all villager types on my Island at one point... but some are hard to let go for the time being, which is why I'm missing a Jock and a Snooty at the moment. I'm hoping there is a DLC that lets us buy more land or create extra villager slots in the future.

I never had a snooty villager, even now. But I still got Joy, Thought, Sighing and Amazed reactions. I don't know who but I still got it regardless.

As for the DIYs, as mentioned by others, they can be obtained from balloons and bottles.

it'll be cool if they actually set the code like, if you don't have a certain personality you can still acquire a reaction from another personality.
obviously the diy, they don't have to do that, but we can get it from message bottles
