Is there a way to fix a villagers furniture?

So I've adopted almost all of my sheepies from people on TBT. They have a ton of random things (all of which I'm okay with) but Frita. My sweet french fry sheep, I gifted her a stool thinking it'd be a cute addition to her home. Well she loves it so much she threw away her Drink Machine. Now I'm upset that her aesthetic is off.

Can I fix this? Or was this a painful lesson I'm gunna have to learn?

You can probably gift it back, they usually replace the current furniture with their original one.

I looked at this and it doesn't quite seem to answer yes or no. The only thing I can see that points to a maybe is if I gift them 24 wall mounted items they might start tossing the oldest gifts first.
