Today on the "Weird Things That Probably Only Happen to Me" Show, I've been attempting to plant a forest of sorts for decorative purposes. But lately, every single tree I've planted has ended up dying, even when it's not adjacent to anything. I've tried planting one in a completely open field. Next day: dead. There are quite a few trees in my town already, so I've begun to wonder if there's a limit that I've not been privvy to until now.

What sort of tree are you trying to plant? I know the pine trees have a weird mechanic where they won’t grow in I think the south part of town? Anytime you try and plant them too far down they wilt. :(

They're just Cedar trees, so theoretically they should work.

Oh, sorry! I meant cedar trees, said pine by mistake 😅 The cedar trees are finicky, I’m not sure why but they wilt if you try to plant them too low in town.

Maybe that's it, then. I suppose I should try a different tree.

Hopefully it works! I have trees bordering my whole town, and some cedar trees sprinkled in the top area and haven’t run into a limit issue yet.

Yes, like -Lumi- said cedar trees can only be planted in the northern half of your town so that may be why they are wilting. So try planting a regular tree sapling there and see if it grows. If there is a limit to the number of trees, I haven't hit it yet.

Confirming that the problem was that it was a cedar tree. Well, that's not the aesthetic I wanted but I'll find something else.

Thank you both for your help. <3

You can go to islands and dig up cedar trees fully grown and transplant them anywhere on yr island.
