Apologies for the rant, but... what is UP with this fish? I've been trying to catch this thing for an hour every evening since April 1st and it's nowhere to be seen?? I've went through more than 300 bait, but all I keep getting are cherry salmons and daces. I've literally caught 5 golden trouts before finding a single char???

Is someone else struggling this much? Am I doing something wrong? I thought it wasn't supposed to be this rare I'm-

i stood at the rivers on the 2nd and 3rd cliffs, throwing fish bait for 3 hours before i found it

I literally was struggling forever too and found it in 5 bait yesterday after using hundreds on other days. I hope it comes up for you soon! It seems to be one of the rarer fish and I lowkey doubted its existence too.

I got the char really quickly, but it took me over 200 bait to get a blue marlin. RNG can be cruel sometimes

i have stopped trying to catch all the fish at this point, i don’t think fishug is that much fun and the only fish i get are the super common ones which kills my motivation to fish

I actually caught it today! Can you imagine I've seen all the pier fish and not a single char lol

OMG The Char is the only fish from April I still haven't caught! (Other than the blue marlin). I hope I find it soon.

I've caught like... 3, but weeks apart. The char and the elusive golden trout are so insanely.... elusive that it's insane.

It took me until about April 28th to catch that or even the Golden Trout. Since then I've gotten one per night.

My "crew" has found better odds fishing on other people's islands. I catch at least one Golden Trout, Char, Turtle, Coelacanth, etc. on each persons island. Even caught my first Mahi Mahi on another island.

I also re-did my river so the entire thing (minus the exit points) is essentially on the second level.

I got lucky and caught it without really looking for it, however, Sherb once asked for a surgeonfish, and for some reason they just then decided that no, we don’t want to exist right now, so I spent like two hours looking for a fish I usually catch more often

I spent the whole fishing tournament fishing in places where it could appear and finally got it near the end. I had previously tried to get it on quite a few separate days. I even planned my terraforming to have more upper river areas with fish like the char in mind. I don't think any of the fish should be even close to that rare. It is not fun.

That's so funny to me because I literally caught like 5 char before catching a single golden trout I didn't even know char was supposed to be rare! In my head they were in the "uncommon" bracket cuz when I caught them I wasn't even trying!

Meanwhile, the golden trout... I was starting to give up hope. I hate the process of making bait and don't rely on it as heavily as some here but I must've used at least 100. I even terraformed another cliffs river to give it more chance to spawn!! I decided to stop trying for awhile, and then finally caught my first one only two days ago, totally randomly. I'd really like another to keep in a tank but I'm sure not getting my hopes up to find another before June...

i never got the blue marlin, it’s still the only dock fish i need though. my friend caught it right in front of me though and i wanted to cry

The Char was super common when I was trying to catch a Golden Trout. That one took me the longest amount of time and the most bait. I'd catch at least one Char per 10 bait.
