Is the ACNL-Cartridge Region Specific?

I will be asking for a PAL-version (European) 3DS for Christmas, so I can change the language to Italian and help expand my knowledge of the language, but I bought my ACNL copy here in North America. Will it work on my EU 3DS? Or will I have to order a copy of ACNL from Europe?

All 3DS games are region locked, sorry D;

Edit: So your NA ACNL won't work on your European 3ds - you'd need to buy a european copy of the game.
