Is the 2DS worth it?

If another exclusive game is announced for the new 3DS that you really want, then I'd say go with the new one. I find that I'm actually using the 3D, and hey, direct amiibo compatibility is cool too. Also, if the new specs mean a whole lot to you, then I'd say go for it. After having mine for a few months now (I upgraded from the original blue 3DS), I still don't 100% think it was worth it. But hey, my old was was starting to act up so it was time for a new one.
If you don't think you'll ever see yourself using the 3D or not caring about any new stuff then I definitely say go for the 2DS. It's cheaper and plays games, which I think is all you're looking for? Anyway, the amiibo accessory will come out soonish so if you're so-so about amiibo that's also a plus.
I hope I helped! x-x

Thanks for all the opinions! Having thought it through, it's probably better to wait and get a new 3DS XL. I don't want to get a 2DS and have a game I want to play be incompatible with the 2DS. :(

i dont think this is really an issue.

the new 3ds isn't a next gen console, so nintendo aren't going to make a lot of games exclusive to the new 3ds. I mean, there'll probably be a fair amount, but I really doubt they'd make like a main series game like pokemon, zelda, or AC be exclusive to the new 3ds, and they'll probably be spin off titles, or remakes such as the Xenoblade remake they released. it's not a next gen console, so the sales are just going to be low if they were to release the next main series Pokemon game exclusive to new 3DS, and it's just gonna be a waste of time and money., because it's not a next gen console, they're just going to be hurting sales by doing so. that said, they may make there be new 3ds exclusive features, but it's probably not going to be anything major (like amiibo support and ****, but you can just buy the adapter thingy so that's not really an issue).

if a game does come out exclusive to the new 3ds that you really want to play, then just wait until the next gen console to come out. chances are it'll be compatible with new 3ds games (and if it isnt then nintendo r stupid), and it means you can play the next gen games, as well as new 3ds games. that's what i plan on doing, unless a game that i really really really can't wait to play comes out, and i can find a new 3ds somewhere for a good deal, then i'll buy one, coz buying a new 3ds just to play one or two games is a p big waste of money, considering it isn't even a next gen console (yes ok i know ive said that like 53292952 times during this post but its a point i really need to stress a lot)

idk just buying a new 3ds coz you are worried there "might" be a game you want to play exclusive to it just seems like a waste, when you've said you only really want a second 3ds for trading. coz like i said, i really doubt they're going to release a main series game exclusive to the new 3ds. i mean, i could totally be wrong, but from a marketing POV that's a p bad decision, and i really dont think nintendo are that dumb
