I've been contemplating resetting for a while. NL is my first AC game so I didn't really know what I was doing. I hate my map, and my town name could be better. The problem is, I have a few villagers I'm not sure I would want to get rid of. Was it worth it when you reset?

You could always get someone you trust to hold your stuff and villagers for you. Personally, I've been wondering if I should reset too for similar reasons, but I think that's going to be too much work and at the same time I like the fact that my early choices in the game reflect what I expected of it when I started out.

I recently reset for town layout reasons, and I love the results! I had a trusted TBT member hold my items, and everything worked wonderfully! I think it all depends on why you want to reset. I think your reasons are perfectly valid for resetting, because those things like your map and your town name are everything in the game, and they'll bother you forever. I'd suggest finding a friend or a highly rated TBT member to hold any SUPER necessary villagers (like any Tier 1 or 2 villagers you may have). The non-rare, less popular villagers you should be able to get through cycling or giveaways fairly easy anyway ^.^ I'd be happy to point you in the direction of a few trustworthy members who I'm sure would help! And I'll also keep an eye out for any villagers you may need for your new town, should you reset :)

Ugghh unlocking stuff is killing me. Maybe not worth it. It sucks getting everything back haha.

Resetting was totally worth it for me. I love my new map, and I'm really happy with the layout. I TTed a bunch to get my shop upgrades back and people held all my items and villagers. :D

NO
THE ONLY THING HOLDING ME BACK IS THAT I HAVE A COMPLETE CATALOG AND most OF MY DREAM VILLAGERS like 9/10
and I already have like a bunch of hydrangea bushes planted so

Whether resetting is worth it or not really depends on how long and how hard you have worked on your town. For example, with my first Cypress, I had it for about 4 months, played on it almost daily, and spent a lot of time working on it, so when I reset, I had to work harder to achieve everything that I had in my first town. I am still making up for the lost time, but at least it gives me something to do over the summer! :)

Idk, it's up to you, mostly. People can help with practically anything you'd need help with. I reset my town, and even though, I lost Rudy, I'm perfectly happy with my decision to reset. Plus, I have Croque, and I kind of like him, surprisingly.

Just have a friend hold onto your items. As for your villagers, I would only have a trusted friend hold onto them, or do the villager reset trick for them. Though I personally wouldn't restart because it's a pain getting everything back to where you want it.

It depends on how far along your town is.

Getting pings from villagers for Public Works Projects is time-consuming.

If one is far along with his/her town, it's preferable to get a new copy of "Animal Crossing: New Leaf."

Thanks everyone. I may have a friend hold my most important villager and items, then giveaway/sell the rest of them. :)
