if we don't use poc what are we going to use?? non-white people?
I'm African American, Asian, Hispanic, etc.
It ain't that hard.
I don't understand it. I think "those of differing race" is a better way to put it.
They're talking about when you're talking about poc as a general term and not just one person.
Like for example, in many places poc have a lesser chance of being hired. It's much easier to say than "in many places, black people, asians, and latinxs have a lesser chance of being hired." The only decent substitute would be "non-white people".
mixed, birace.. common sense?!?!POC stands for "Person of Color" or someone who is not caucasian. Do you think it's appropriate to use? I see it used a lot, but I've read about actual "POC" getting upset about its use.
What do you think?
Also, I have another question: What if someone has a white father but a poc mother? What does that make them?
since most all races other than caucasian experience harrassment/discrimination...
...in the West.
I lived in Japan for 3 years and everyone not Japanese (including white people) faces at least some discrimination there. This also includes non-Japanese Asians, though the non-Japanese Asians can blend in more if they know how to speak Japanese.
Anyway, as a white person, I don't feel like I really get an opinion on POC because I'm not included in that. If others are fine with it, then it's good.
