Is originality important to you?

It never used to bother me before, but recently, I find that originality is SUPER crucial to me. Like, if I get a villager who isn't wearing their original shirt (unless the clothing change suits them) or their house is completely loaded with fish and bugs, I almost feel like I can't accept the villager. Erik is so unoriginal it's driving me mad, but I love him too much to let him go!

So is originality important to you, and if so, how so? What are your boundaries?

I don't really mind if the clothes are not original or the house (as long as it's not filled with bugs, etc), I just redecorate them houses and clothes from time to time anyways. It's boring to see the same thing over and over again in your town AND when you visit dream towns.

Hmm. It's nice, but I don't particularly mind. I always make it my aim to send them gifts with furniture in that they can place in their home, anyway...so that I can decorate their house for them, basically.

It's much easier in happy home designer but hey...

For those who said it is impossible to keep villagers 100% original, it actually isn't. Just don't do bug/fishing requests, delivery requests, furniture requests, change the able sisters shirt designs to random hat designs (villagers can't wear hats), and don't idle in your town for longer than 5 minutes (your villagers will not converse/change shirts/catchphrases within that time). Mine have been original for over 6 months.

It depends, really. I don't like getting a villager from someone that has the hideous duck tank on, or their house is full of bugs/fish, but you can always change that. I do really like it when a villager is original but it's not the end of the world if they're not.

i will almost always only adopt a villager from someone if they're original. maybe it's just ocd, but i can't stand when they've got a ton of bugs/random crap in their house instead of the cute little themes they start with c':
and even though it's such a small thing, i hatE when their shirts are changed or if they're wearing the default able sisters designs. they're awful. i know how to change them, but it's just irritating.

I'm 50/50, I got an unoriginal Marshal and didn't really mind because it was pretty easy to fix him back up. He's not "original" I affectionally call him "refurbished"- his house is filled sloppy furniture which all is pretty close to his default stuff, besides the chocolate I sent him to put on his table.

I got Bianca unoriginal and she was the most unoriginal villager I've gotten, it was so hard to replace the fish and bugs that came in her house. Villagers like Diana, or Ankha, I wouldn't buy unless she was 100-99% original because their houses are so perfect, and I'd imagine it'd be hard to get everything back looking good.

Most of my own villagers, especially when their house is kinda eh, I like to make them unoriginal. I put sloppy stuff in Bob's house and I always make him wear the hot dog tank, mermaid furniture in Skye's, Gracie series in Mint's, golden furniture for Julian, etc. I think it makes it fun to design their house a new way, if their house isn't super awesome like Beau's, Kabuki's, Zucker's, etc.

If it's a super popular villager that's fairly easy to find, originality would be nice, but not necessary.

For low-tier, almost always voided villagers...I don't care. And it just takes a little extra work to get them how you want them to be anyway.

I'm okay with my original villagers living and wearing how ever they would like.. But yeah sometimes their clothes seem a little off for certain villagers. But overall I prefer original villagers to move in rather than through friends, just feels more newer and like animal crossing wild world xD

If a villager isn't original, it doesn't particularly bother me that much. It's when their house is full of gross things like bugs and fish or balloon furniture (*shiver*). I know that it can be changed if I give them new furniture when they ask, but it can take so long and I hate seeing their house like that. It's worth it though when the villager is a dreamy. I like them enough that I can get past the fact that their house may not look the best.

Same here. They always talk about their old town and sing their town tune and stuff and I guess that gives them more character but I still prefer them to directly move into my town themselves. >.>

I honestly don't care what the inside of their houses look like. You only get to see it when they're home (not sleeping) and when they invite you over, so you don't get to see it that often. I'm nearly 2 weeks in of my second town and there's a few villagers who I've NEVER been inside their house yet.

I also like it when they change clothes. It gets boring if they wear the same clothes all the time.

But I'm way less picky about this game than other people. I don't plot reset or beg to use someone else's Shampoodle when I start a new town (I'm patient enough to wait for my Shampoodle) or things like that.

the house i dont really care about as lots of the time i never see there house as there are never home

Nope not at all. I give my villagers what they want, whenever they want haha! Some houses really look awful because of that but they are happy and that is what counts for me. I don't wanna stress out about little things like that. I wanna have fun y'know.

Those who don't like unoriginal catchphrases or shirts - you should be able to change them back to their original with Isabelle at the Town Hall.

Personally I don't mind unoriginal villagers. And I would rather home someone that was loved for a long time by another person than let them go to the void.

Originality isn't all that important to me, I don't mind if a few things are replaced here or there. It does annoy me a little bit if their house is filled with useless things like fish or plants but at the end of the day I still recieve a villager I really love, so I learn to accept it.
