I've tried to do the reset trick with my last two move-ins (who i asked to move in from other towns) and when I made new characters (after 6am the next day) I couldn't find their plots, but when I logged in on my mayor the plots were down (Bob demolished a couple perfect fruit trees, that doofus). I'm worried my software is messed up! Should I start a new town and move everyone over (and not reset), or am I okay?

Is it possible you just missed where their plots were going down when you were checking on the new character? I don't think I've ever heard of something being wrong with the software when doing the reset trick, so your game should be fine.

Sorry

The problem is, I wanted to reset for villager plot placement, but they wouldn't show up when I made a new character. However, when I logged in as the mayor, the plots were down. I'm worried my software is messed up, and I'm wondering if I should make a new town and move all my villagers and items over. I don't want to try to play one day and find out my file is corrupted.

I don't think it's the software. The villagers probably weren't set to move in the day you started resetting. It takes anywhere from 1-3 days for a villager to move in.

I don't think so :/ Bob plopped down right in front of the mayor's house, and I always check there to be sure. The other went in front of the cafe, which is a pretty open area, so I feel like I would have seen that as well.

It takes just second day for them to move in, I guess you have not check it very thoughtfully cause their plot might just be hidden somewhere you don't see. There is nothing wrong with your system =)

Trees don't block plot only pwps and houses, and they could even plot at very small narrow area as long as it fit in their houses~ not necessary open wide space~

When that happens to me it's because I started a new character BEFORE 6am. Just make sure it's after, you can usually tell if its after sick when the lights in the train station are off.

This could very well be it! Hahah, I feel so dumb. Thanks to everyone who replied!

Ahh that's happened to me before too! So disappointing when I reset and some random moved in. @v@ I found setting the time to 5:59AM and immediately turning it off helped prevent that.
Glad you got it worked out!

your game is fine!

so if i understood this well, you tried with the new character and quit without saving when there weren't any plots, then on the same day you loaded your mayor and that's when you saw them. am i right?

if that's the case, then when you quit without saving, it also wasn't saved that there weren't any new plots. how it works is that whenever a new character is created or loaded the game decides if there are going to be any plots or not, and when you loaded the mayor that's why the plots appeared

if you loaded the mayor on a different day, then it's sort of the same thing
