Is Lucky actually a Dry Bones?

I always saw Lucky as a reference to Dry Bones, from the Mario games.

no i think he is suppose to be a mummy dog... he is wrapped up in bandages... even Nintendo says the bandages are from "a bad fishing accident" but most people go with the mummy dog thing
