is Lobo really that unpopular/ugly?

I've always had a soft spot for Lobo. He was the first villager I ever talked to in an ac game. I think he's a real sweetheart. I don't really get why he's so unpopular compared to the other wolves.

I have lobo in my town right now and I love him ;~; his unpopularity is probably because of looks, but I don't think he looks bad.
