Is Leif permanent or event only?

I would love if he’d eventually ask to set up a building, though im not hopeful. I expect he will just be a visitor forever, but if it is only for the duration of the event i will be disappointed. I dont think the game would give us shrubs then take them away though.
I'm guessing he will become permanent later, possibly with a future update if it's not in the code already. It's probably the same deal with Kicks. Nintendo is taking the slow approach with this one, so it's pretty much a guarantee we will have much more permanent content later. They want people to get a feel for the game first, get people acquainted with the world and characters and all that instead of overwhelming you with everything all at once.

I figured he would keep appearing, like Kicks and Label are selling on the plaza on and off. It would be weird to let us get bushes for some weeks and then BAM. Gone.

i feel like he'd keep appearing and selling starts that are in season. no way he's just leaving after earth day now that bushes are a thing.
Label is definitely going to set up her own shop at some point too, isn't she? She came to my town yesterday, and I got those vibes from what she was saying. I reckon there'll be a lot of shops available say a year from now.
I have a feeling he'll be permanent. When I was in my upgraded Nook's shop, there is a section off the right and it looks like he could be sitting pretty there. Or standing.

I actually like him as a visitor, I like having sellers on random days... I wouldn't enjoy having them all at Nook's cranny because then I wouldn't have to look forward to one of them visiting every day 
That said I firmly believe he'll stay permanently, as the bushes are seasonal and it seems unlikely they wouldn't have him come year round then.

I was wondering about this. I was going day by day and ended up in october before j went back to the event and was wondering if i can go back to the day i was on before. It doesnt really matter though, time has no meaning anymore, both in animal crossing and real life.

I couldnt figure out what month it was so i thought about when animal crossing came out and how long i thought it had been since then and i couldnt figure out if it had been days or months since the game was released and just decided to check my phone. Also, its 5:40 am and i havent gone to bed yet. Quarentine is really something.
