Sorry if there's a thread about this, I didn't want to revive an old thread (of course, I didn't look.) lol

I was just curious about this, I'm definitely a person who is so impatient to see whom I'm getting the next day, I really want to time travel, but then again, I heard so many bad stories about it, so is it worth it?
I know that turnips expire, which is fine because I missed it due to work and all.

What are you opinions about it?

If you are careful and make SURE to check if anyone is moving out before TTing again, then it's fine. I do it on a regular basis, but I never go more than a couple days either way without checking on my villagers.

It's really up to you, my friends don't like to do it but I'm like "Meh, why not if I have a good reason"?

Ah okay, that makes sense. :3

When my friend did it a long time ago, she had so many weeds and she felt like she was cheating. x3

I don't think there are really any drawbacks specific to time travel, except for the turnips spoiling when you TT backwards. I'm pretty sure the option is there to make the game more playable for people who can't just play a bit every day, otherwise there wouldn't be the option in-game and it'd probably have pretty drastic consequences, like how Pok?mon doesn't let you do any daily events if you change the clock.

Either way, if it sounds like it would be more fun to you, go for it.

TTing small amounts isn’t harmful at all. Generally, mistakes happen when you skip forward years in advance without checking in on your town inbetween. As long as you make sure non of your villagers are moving out, jumping a day or two forward will do nothing. I don’t have time to play often so I rely on TTing to move things forward.

Aw, okay!
I usually get off around 8 or 9 in the evening so everything closes.
Nice to know, I might have to time travel when I get a chance!

Thanks everyone!

Yes, it is. It is very beneficial for one, some of us take breaks, we need to TT back and not lose anything THEN TT forward. Whoever doesn't must like weeds and losing villagers (unless they don't care and have nothing to lose). Second, paying your house upgrades faster, Brewster coffee AND Sable's friendship (QR Machine). Third, hybrid quick massproducing.

Then again this is up to anyone. Some is extremely against it and consider it as a sin to do so, some are like me who enjoys the game with time anomalies. Play the game like you want to!

My working day is 10-7 (plus I have to commute), so I was having issues getting to places while they were open. I wound up setting my clock 2 hours behind. I'm on Eastern time but my village is on Mountain time. This way I can still make it to T&T, Nooks Homes, the Able Sisters, or Kicks in the evning if I need to. I'd had my town set to "Early Bird" since I play before work most days, but I was wasting so much time watering flowers that it works better to offset my hours and keep "Beautiful Town" in effect.

This is just an alternative if you decide you don't want to do a full TT.

I have been time traveling. ^-^
Just because of Sable and to get residents situated into place.

I dont like it. For me its like cheating, but there are people who do this a lot so I guess it's okay.

x3 I care too much about my villagers and I don't have an ordiance yet, since I'm still on the very first day.
I might TT during the day, like night time, but I'm a little hesitant to TT when it comes in getting Sable, I haven't done it yet, but I'm just a little comprehensive about doing it. Oh well.

Have neevr done it on New Leaf, but did it a couple of times on the GameCube game for events that required me to get up super early in the morning. So I just played the game in the afternoon and time travelled 8-9 hours back to experience the events.

Time travelling sorta defeats the purpose of the game and I don't feel compelled to do it on New Leaf, but if you gotta do it at times then do it. It's not a game you can win or lose at, so it's not a big deal if you occasionally "cheat" like that. We all got lives and more important things to do and places to go. The game can wait, and turning back the clock a day or two in a situation like that shouldn't be a big deal.

I've never time traveled while playing normally but I have no qualms with things like cycling towns and other people who time travel. I would also be okay with getting items from someone who used time travel to get them. It's just not something I would personally do for myself because I have never played that way before!

It depends on the person. :)

I used to TT because I couldn't wait and got bored easily. Since I restarted my town, I decided not to TT because I'll be quite busy so I won't have the time to TT. I know some people who are busy still TTs but I personally just wanna play without TTing because that's all I did in the past. I have the Nightlife Town Ordinance to accommodate for my schedule.

So is TTing worth it? Depends on the player. It's up to them and it's their own preference. Just be careful when you TT.

I TT to make up for the lost time during my 2 yr hiatus, and also took that opportunity to move out villagers I don't want and move in my dreamies. I also do it to buy more time during festivities or if Gracie is in town for a fashion check.

A lot of people already said this. But it really depends on what you want to achieve out of it. Just be really careful if you have a lot of dreamies in town. Since they up the grace period before they move to 10 days. I say keep checking your villagers every after 3-4 days of TTing. I set my town to beautiful ordinance since I have a lot of flowers, and I dont really want to water them every time I TT a day forward or repeat a day

^_^ Thanks everyone! I have decided to buy another copy of animal crossing one for TT and one for regular, it helps. xD

I time travel every day in all of my towns. I don't have time to play it out old school style. I LOVE the option to time travel. It changed the whole perspective of the game for me when I first discovered it a thousand years ago (lol). I find it extremely odd that there are so many discussions in which players consider time traveling 'cheating.' I honestly think that is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. It's a game. You play it however you see fit to enjoy it. If the content creators didn't intend for players to set the time according to their own likes, they wouldn't have included the option to change the time in the first place. My op ed for the day, lol.

yeah it can speed things up and help u catch up on events but i wouldnt do big jumps because id be worried about my fave villagers moving out ;; i tt a lot because im awake at weird hours so i usually set my game a few hours behind aaaand sometimes i get lazy/impatient and want to complete something really fast (today i tted 10 times to unlock the qr machine on my side character and expand my mayor's house faster lol)

TT can be beneficial but beware. I ruined my game experience by TT too much and just losing that sense of what the game was about.
