Is it true that floor patterns prevent grass deterioration?

This has been a long time rumor, but I thought it was not true. Is it?

No. It can still die under the pattern.

It kills the grass under the pattern no matter what.

Its false. If anything it kills grass quicker since if you have paths you will probably run on them, which does affect the grass underneath.

Once you use paths all over your town, grass becomes unimportant. You'll forget all about it in the end.
I'd say the only time you should care for grass, is if you want a forest town. But most likely you're gonna throw paths around anyways

I agree with that, you don't even have to worry about the grass. It doesn't ware out instantly. It takes a LOT to kill grass. But building houses and projects instantly kills grass
