Is it true strangers can talk to your villagers and convince them to move out (even before they're in boxes)?

So I had a buyer simply just run past me straight into my island, because he wanted to 'check it out' (I've never had this happen before, they usually politely stay at the gate), so I disconnected, since in the back of my mind, I was concerned since I've heard it's possible for strangers to convince villagers to move out. The guy then proceeded to call me paranoid/crazy and blocked me on discord, so I feel kind of bad now. Anyways, is this actually a thing?

No (as far as I can tell, at least)

However, if they talk to the villagers and then you Void them, they may go to one of those people's towns after.
