Yeah theres usually somebody up at all hours of the day, however, just because theres villagers awake doesnt mean that theres something to do, those villagers can still be pretty boring, at least in my town <.<

It all depends on the villager and no the shops aren't open when they go to bed, unless of course you have Nook'N'Go which is open until 1am.

Yeah...it shouldn't be too hard to tell the personalities. Grizzly, Octavian and Apollo are examples of cranky villagers. Bud is a jock. Derwin and Puck are lazy. Monique and Yuka are snooty. Pinky and Bunnie are peppy, and Daisy and Savannah are normal...someone will probably make a personality type guide eventually.
