Is it possible to transfer saved data from my ACNL cartridge to SD card?

Hello,
I was wondering if I could transfer my saved game data from my ACNL game cartridge to my 3DS SD card?
My friend wants to borrow my cartridge for a while and I want to keep my saved data on my SD card, in case I want to play my game again.

I downloaded the Nintendo Save Data Transfer Tool from the eshop, but it says its used to transfer saved data from the cartridge to downloadable game version. But I wasnt going to download the game, I just want to have it saved to play again when I get my cartridge back.

I'm not sure, but I heard that some files have corrupted by transfer.

The Save Data Transfer tool moves your town from the cartridge version to the digital version. You can then never have your town back on the cartridge, because the cartridge is turned back to its factory original state in the process.

I'm afraid what you're wanting to do is impossible.

As far as I am aware, no, this is not possible. The save data transfer tool works only for transferring the save if you have the digital version of the game on your 3DS. It works one way. If you just copied your save to your SD card and gave your friend your game for them to play and they started a new file, you wouldn't be able to recover your old one unless you had a digital copy. It doesn't work like that, you can't just copy your saves to the SD card and take them later.

You NEED the digital version to be able to save your town from being destroyed if you're going to hand off the game tk your friend for a while.
It can be bought right now and then you can do the save transfer.
