Is it possible to link two different characters on the same island to the same Nintendo account?

I’m trying to link my second character to my Nintendo account. The second character is also me, so I wanted to link to the same account that my main character is on and be able to online play with this character as well. However, when I try to do it, it says password incorrect. I even changed it right now even though I knew it was correct to see if it would work, but it does not. Is this not possible?

You need a separate account in order to have a second character.

You would need to make a second nintendo account and upgrade to the family plan for online (regular plan $20 for one account, family plan $35 for up to 8 accounts).

You don't need a separate account for another player. You need a new profile on the switch

I Would need two different Nintendo accounts with each Nintendo account paying different memberships?

You can have two accounts on the same family membership. Two accounts with the same family membership should be cheaper than having two 2 single paying membership
