Is it possible to catch a petaltail dragonfly on the island?

If I take island tours like hide-and-seek, does the petaltail dragonfly ever show up? It's the last bug I need to complete my museum, and the wait until August is killing me.

No, it doesn't matter. Once you catch a bug, it's automatically released, so you can't take it home unless you see one on your island outside of the tours.

Well, I've been taking home bugs from the hide-and-seek tours (you just ask the gyroid for a net, and go to town), but I've yet to see a petaltail. I've caught banded dragonflies and birdwing butterflies in this fashion. I was wondering if anyone knew if a petaltail would eventually show up in a hide-and-seek tour (or any tour where I can take home bugs for that matter).

This is correct. You CAN take home fish and bugs from the tours--their respective tours! Example: You can't take a dragonfly from bug tours, but if you catch one in just about any other tour, you can.

EDIT: I've done this, but never seen a Petaltail.

I have never seen a petaltail on any of the tours where you would be able to keep one, just bandeds. Try posting in the train station and seeing if anyone whose town is already in August would be willing to let you into their town to catch it?
