It is overused but I couldn't care less. It's just a town name. They are all different in their own ways. My town name is somewhat common, but IDC because I love it.
is it just me or is the town name hyrule overused

It is overused, but meh. Whatever makes others happy. My town name is all kinds of messed up. I would hate it if anyone judged it, so I try not to judge others. (Although I judge mine the worst anyone could. It's one of only 3 things I hate about my town and wish I could change.)

I see it a lot as well, but it doesn't bother me too much. After all, they do have a right to name their town whatever they want! 
I've only seen it a few times, to be honest. I've seen several Rosewoods, too, but I won't be changing mine just because it's more common. It's a name I love; Hyrule is a name their creators loved, and that's what makes it special. c:
