Is Club Tortimer safe?

Mostly related to the title. I’m getting back into New Leaf and want to get cool prizes from Club Tortimer islands, but don’t want to worry about hackers mostly. Trolls I guess I’m used to.

Sort of. I’ve had some experiences where I ended up trapped, but otherwise they never did anything to my save.

If you wish, you could always do ‘island hopping’ for the shop items you want. It’s not uncommon for people to do that. Also, depending on the item you want, it could possibly be available at the regular, offline island as well, so keep a lookout for that.

FWIW, I haven't had any issues while island hopping for shop items. I've heard a lot of outrageous stories, but the worst thing that ever happened to me so far was getting disconnected on once (the Resetti error screen appeared and I got booted off the island). I feel like the little "home" button at the bottom of the screen has made it harder to get trapped, anyway.

There was one really nice person who gave me an item I was looking for for free, and one person who asked me for "belks". You meet all kinds...

But yes, I imagine you shouldn't have any issue, especially if you're just looking for items at the shop.

From what I've experienced, it isn't as dangerous as people have described but you should still be a little wary about it.
I always visit with people in my country only, so it's less likely that I'll meet anyone weird.

There have been several hackers I've met that were really nice and did pretty funny things like making it impossible to cut down the trees and giving a ton of bells to everyone but I've only met one who was really bad, they placed random items that you couldn't pick up all over the island and made my character float upwards unable to move; it was incredibly frightening for me. I make sure my stylus is always hovering over the home button just in case I get trapped by people like that.

I've not yet met any creeps asking about relationships or anything like that, but if I ever do I'll just block 'em even if they're joking.

I have never experienced any super serious problems, I personally usually have fun especially given I don't have many people to play with irl (most don't play NL and the ones that did don't anymore) and haven't found it to be dangerous. Never ran into any hackers so of course be a bit cautious but don't let it stop you either.

I don’t think it’s dangerous or anything. I did meet tons of hackers, some trapped us (which was funny ngl) and others were super nice. But I guess you don’t really have to worry, I mean, the majority are just kids. If you feel unsafe just turn the WiFi switch off, or maybe go to the non online island.

I think the worst part, as others have mentioned, is rude people trying to con you for money (which is so silly) or trap you, but I haven't had that happen much. Mostly people avoid each other because they're all worried about being mistreated. Which is sort of sad, but it's certainly not dangerous. I think the only way to get the treasure chest and other cool items is if you go to a multiplayer island, so I found it was worth the risk of interacting with rude people.

I never had any troubles, except for some anoying pleople that keep running and scaring all the fishes and bugs, so I don't recomend that to hunt for bugs os fish. But its pretty much okay otherwise, every trip you make new items appears in the gift shop, so becames easy to collect them all this way
