Is changing a villager's house place changing their frienship ?

So, I felt like Bob and Sherb were spending a lot of time together; however when I moved Bob's house close to Raymond's I feel like they are spending more time together.
Does it have an influence or is it just a coincidence ?
Have you noticed similar behavior with your villagers?

They tend to stick around their houses and RS. Few villagers wander farther away. So I guess it makes sense
