Been thinking about doing this for quite some time now!

My current town is nowhere where I want it to be and I need to put a lot of time and money into it. I was thinking if I bought a second copy I could turn it into a cycle town and then I can get some money for the villagers! I know new the game is about $35 but I could probably get it for a better price used.

Can anyone who has a second copy give me some input! I want to do it, but just want some affirmation that it is worth it. Thank you c:

Target JUST had it on sale last week for $15... so it's possible other stores might follow suit. I'd keep an eye out for a price that you feel is worth it and buy once you see a copy that cheap. I got a second copy, cracked open an old 3DS that I bought "as-is" off ebay, and pulled out my soldering iron and fixed it... and gave the whole setup to my BF. I don't know how much he'll play, but I can use his town now if he's ultimately not interested.

I personally think it is worth it. I have a second town and it's so helpful. I have double the space, I can use it for cycling and getting money (tbt and igb), for signatures, and if one of your villagers expectantly goes in boxes to move, you can make them move into your second town so you don't lose them while you do the 16 villager cycle to be able to get them back. You can get your dreamies too!
If we had Target in the UK I would have bought another one by now, but alas, we do not.

Personally, it depends on how much time and effort you feel you will actually put into playing a second copy. Usually, it does take a lot of keeping up to do if you are the type of person to retain a perfect town stats, decorating the town to be flawless and with dreamies, etc. then most people find it burdensome at times because of this. However, if you don't really care for the town, and just want to play leisurely without any worries then go right ahead! If you have a very strong passion for ACNL and you know you pretty much play it everyday and/or can find time, then I would definitely recommend it. I would love to get my hands on a second copy personally, because as of now, I am in an ACNL addiction lol

so it sounds like there's two reasons to buy a second copy... the first is to have a whole second-village experience... the second would be to have a second town to act as support to feed into making your first town awesome. I answered assuming you just wanted a feeder town, it looks like others are answering with the expectation that you're going to treat both games equally. Curious, which did you have in mind with a second copy?

Have two copies, both on the same DS (one digital, one hard). I think it's worth it, but man, I have been ignoring a lot of my other DS games for a while now.

Even though it sounds fun to have two towns- it would be a lot of work. You probably would pay attention to one more than the other. Why waste 35$ on a game you already own when you can buy something you have yet to experience ? If your heart is set on getting another town, maybe just wait for a sale for ACNL or check online for a cheaper price.

WORTH IT! I have been using my brother's DS for my second town since he doesn't use his DS as much any more! I love having a second town because its like a blank canvas to create whatever you didn't have in your main town c:

I actually wanted the second game more as you say a feeder town. More for cycling, and holding items and such! I'm thinking if I can get my hands on a cheap copy of the game I'm going to do it c:

If you'd have asked me when I first started playing, I'd say it was silly, why have more than one town, etc etc - but now? I really love having more than one copy. What you use your spare for is totally up to you and there are tons of possibilities. You can cycle. You can use it as a trading town (move all your valuables over so they're not clogging up your storage, if you're a hoarder like me :p) or just an extra storage dump. You can clear the whole place and just breed hybrids all day every day. Or you can have a full-fledged second town, and while I used to think I'd only ever need one, building up my second (now that I have a better idea of what I'm doing, lol) is oddly fulfilling.

So, if anyone out there has the spare cash and is wondering whether they should take the plunge and get another copy, I say go for it. Worst that can happen is you find out it's more than you can handle - I wouldn't recommend it for people who are ULTRA busy - but in that case you can always return it, trade it in somewhere or sell it on amazon or something. No harm, no foul.

I too was on the fence with getting a second copy but my old town is almost 2 years old and I've pretty much exhausted it and don't have a whole lot left to do. I also left it pretty simple without letting my creative juices flow much, but I also don't have the heart to reset it.

I recently got a second town thanks to the Club Nintendo Platnium reward (I already had most of the other good game options anyways). As I was not willing to pay full price for a second copy, but I think I would be now. My new town is my main focus right now (as I said my first town is pretty well exhausted) and I'm working on making it super creative and picking a really cool theme! It makes things fun yet challenging as I love my theme choice. A cycling or hybrid town would be nice but I'd rather work on a really creative themed town that I can be proud of and show off (someday lol long way to go yet).

Depends what you want to use it for mostly, EX: When I found about villager popularity I knew right away I wanted to make a cycle town to to trade items/ tbt or IGN bells. I have one 3ds but if you have two it is so lovely.
For Cycling purposes: You can use it to breed hybrids, Cycle out villagers for yourself, Give away/ Sell/ Etc., Extra space if you have a 2nd 3ds or you can have someone to help you transfer items. Nice way to get weeding badges, clovers or mushrooms.
You can get the game pretty cheap used, I know target just had a sale for 15$ last week.
in my opinion the 2nd town really did help me, Since I got my boyfriend a acnl game he helped me moved all the hybrids I was breeding to sell into my main town since I filled my 4 characters lockers and beaches with hybrids xD

I think it is so worth it. You can have a whole new town to redesign, new villagers, and when you are done working on your old town, you have a whole new one to explore. The other side of it is having it be a cycle town for yourself, which you can also use to dupe items with & get all of the villagers you want. Plus you can always help other people out and give them the villagers you are not wanting or needing. It is really cool and I did it. So worth it. I love having this option to play around with what you can do with that second town. It makes for never getting bored, and helping other people out is really awesome too. The feeling of giving someone a dreamie is priceless. c:

Lol, that's a bot right there :p

Anyway, I myself got a second copy because I had a lot of inspiration to make an astronomy-themed town, and the urge kept building and building, until I couldn't stand it anymore and caved in to buy myself another copy at GameStop. So if the urge for you is really there, I would say get it.

Yes yes yes to a second copy :D Though I warn you .. my second town was meant to be for cycling but it turned into a regular ole town aha, you might be more strong willed than me though (got attached to my villagers waah). It's great how the two towns feel different, and you can try different things out without ruining or changing your first town. And a new map ! Woop!

Just earn tbt and buy it on here-haha jk. but that's what I did

The second copy is for my actual town. I use my first town for selling things/ laying out all my items that I sell on the forums. Most people probably don't do that, but I'm guessing some use it for cycling? (Which I have no knowledge on)
If you're just looking to make your town look nice, then don't bother.
