Is Audie based off an elder ac player?

Today Show

The link above is to an article on the Today show's website. It states that they contacted Nintendo to confirm whether Audie is named after the elderly AC fan but Nintendo was "unwilling to comment".That makes sense.By not admitting to naming that peppy wolf after this senior AC fan they avoid legal entanglements and by not denying it they avoid possibly upsetting those fans that choose to believe that they did.

I heard her name was Audrey, and she name herself Audie in her new leaf world. Might be wrong though, but I always assumed that is true. I really wish that Audie is based on that grandma, she really deserves it!

i think it's somewhat likely that the english localisation team named her audie as a reference to this old lady but it's not like audie the wolf is based on her in any way. just a name reference in my opinion/what i think.

Maybe audie is supposed to be like the lady audie when she was young in the 50s i see audie as being kindve a 50s gal
