Is anybody else having a hard time catching a grasshopper?

I've been hunting for at least 2 hours and all I can catch are long locust and nothing else. If I have to see that stinking pun one more time...are they rare or something?

That's strange...seem to be all over for me. The noise is usually a giveaway though if you find one...and have your volume on

They're everywhere on my island! I'm practically tripping over them all day! It's a pity you can't trade bugs/fish, I just caught one!

I had some difficulty with this as well - it seems they're much rarer than long locusts lol

they aren't any rarer than locusts, they also look much different if you're tired of the pun - they're shorter/fatter and have some brown on them. they're also only around from 8am-5pm, idk what timezone you're in or when you play so

i guess you just have really bad luck???

They're very common for me as well....They are much,, er, shorter than the long locusts and they don't hop as far. They only seem to hop small distances away, so they're very easy to catch once you do find one

I’ve seen them here and there but they aren’t as common as long locusts. One thing that was funny about the grasshopper was that I was getting annoyed with one chirping while I was waiting to tour someone so I put him into noisy bug jail.

It was raining while I was hunting if that has anything to do with it. Maybe I just am unlucky lmao. Well I'll have to try again tomorrow. Really I just wanted to know if it was just me or not.
