I was considering doing an all frog island today. None of my villagers are frogs, but I feel like I could work towards it. Has anyone tried an all one species island?

honestly when i went island hopping, it felt like i was only ever finding frogs lol

at one point on my previous island, i had almost all cats and didn't even notice until my sister pointed it out 😂

I saw a person on youtube who was doing an all frog island with a humid forest theme. Their videos are mostly based on hunting frog villagers is very cute.

It'd be hard to do with RNG alone. However, since frogs are a less popular type of villager, you probably would be able to get most of them relatively easily (Lily and Ribbot aside) from trading.

Dogs and cats are a lot more rare to find. Also considering their popularity, obtaining these villagers would be more "demanding".

Frogs (and deers), on the other hand, are a lot less tedious since they occur more frequently compared to these two species. And as mentioned above, adopting these villagers are easier since they are not THAT in-demand.

Island-wise, designing is a lot easier too since you can just go for a natural aesthetic. Lakes, ponds, woods, etc. Frogs would easily fit in.

I've done species islands before! They were great especially when your town theme suits the villagers. On new leaf I had a frog village, I'd say it's highly doable especially since there is island hopping now.

Currently, on my main switch, I have a wolf village (rip wolf link when will you get added back 😭). On my switch lite I stuck with a deer cat theme. I still haven't finished it because it's so hard to find the villagers I want with RNG alone. Trading for them would definitely be easier, I think if you want to start an animal theme village you need to keep plot space at top priority. I foolishly opened up all my plots and had them occupied, this has probably taken me more time to try to evict villagers to get the ones I want.

Well, a lot of species really only have a few villagers (some not even enough to fill an island!). So it'd be pretty easy to do a cat island, with like 5% of the available villagers being cats, compared to deer, which have half the population of cats.

There are a lot of frogs (just slightly less than cats!) so probably not too hard to do with no trading. Personally I love those little dudes and it sounds adorable. Maybe they have an octopus friend? 👀 Fishable villagers gotta stick together.

Depends, its mainly rng that does make it hard to make a monospecies island.

I have all the goats! Got Sherb today from an NMT island.

the game when island hopping rolls all species evenly so it's not easier or harder to do than all of any other species. the hard part is when you want 10 specific frog villagers.

I don't think it will be too hard. I actually have been thinking about doing a mono species island as well. It is important to note that when you look for villagers on nook islands, it will roll for species first and then for a certain villager. You have a chance of 1/35 to find a frog villager every time, I believe.

I'll probably end up with all one species at some point, but I would want cats. I rarely see cat villagers on islands.
I island hopped a bunch the other day and I only ran into one frog. I think it could be tricky, but it's random. You might have better luck than I do!

Almost half my island are cubs but it’s not like I planned it that way. It just sorta happened. I think they’re so cute. There was a point I had five of them so when I realized this, I let one move out and replaced her with another villager.

Oh really? That's interesting. I assumed it was an even dice roll across all individual villagers. Do you have any more info on this?

If I could have two islands on one switch, I would totally do a Deer-only island. The deer are my favorite villager types of all time (so far).

To answer your question, it really is just RNG.

I was considering doing a mono-species island but my dreamies are different species... It's definitely do-able, as I've seen wolf islands and cat islands. Frogs are less popular than both so they would be easy to trade from others. Definitely consider Raddle if you do end up pursuing this idea - he is such an adorable lazy villager :P

you should do it!!! ive always wanted to do a one species island because it sounds so cute, but i have too many favs that i just cant do it ;_;
