The Santa Clara chipmaker said the fingernail-size research prototype already can move 100 hours of digital music or 45 million tweets in a second from one device to another. And the company expects to make one eventually that can transmit a laptop's hard drive in one second and the entire printed collection of the Library of Congress in less than two minutes.

So.. thoughts on this? I honestly can't wait for this to be finished... It's about time we had another majorly revolutionary thing in terms of technology. They think they can get up to 1000gigabits per second in the final product. Yay for intel :D

Oh yeaaahhhhh Intel.

question: can/could they use it in a processor, or is that a bit too far-fetched as of now/uses completely different tech, due to this being cable/fiber optics, and processors being not? (or would be xbawkz heug)

You mean I won't have to wait 4 hours to watch an HD movie?

No, that's not even important, compared to

LAG FREE GAMES.
HELL YES.

Sorry to break it to you guys, but it'll be a LONG time before this sort of speed comes to internet. You're misunderstanding the point of this.

Think of this as a new type of USB or Harddrive. 1000gigabits per second between two devices, not over the internet.

Either way, this is amazing. The speed of browsing your computer will increase dramatically, not to mention transferring files between 2 computer, your ipod and HD movies/pictures from your camera. And everyone will be able to have it as they hope to get the cost of the chips down to $1 apiece.
