I swear there is something wrong with my brain.

Somehow, I managed to get Genji yesterday and my life was amazing. So naturally, today was the day to use the reset trick to get his house into a good place. The problem? Me spacing out. After six or so tries, my brain failed me and instead of creating a new character, I did what is probably ingrained into my head as routine by now and loaded my mayor. I realized what I had done the second I saw the circle loading, but knew I couldn't do anything anymore. I tried anyway, of course, shutting down as soon as Isabelle said "Have a nice day" and created a new character, checking where Genji put his house, cold dread flooding me.

Yeaaaah. Genji smashed all my pink carnations and put himself smack-dab into the middle of the map, where a path was suppose to go and where I wanted to build a park. I can't relocate the path below him because there's a rock and then a pond and Re-Tail is above him. Genji basically cut off any possibility of a path to the left side of my map.

Despite better knowledge, I closed the game and created another new character, hoping against hope...but yeah, position is fixed.

I think even the people on the other side of the street heard my cry of frustration.

The worst part? This is not the first time this happened. It was the very same with Dotty, only that Dotty was kind enough to put her house permanently into a spot I can at least decently live with.

Genji, whyyyyyy?:(

Oh man, that sucks. All you can do is accept it and try to see if there's a way you can work around it. Unless you're willing to go to the trouble of having him move out and then cycling through 16 villagers again. Personally, I'd just try to deal with it.

Here's hoping the next game will simply allow us to choose house placement!

Lol thats sucks, I feel your pain though. Someone move in on my path, but too lazy to do these reset tricks.

I feel this so hard, I did the same thing a few weeks ago when Rod moved in. Got distracted around the eighth or ninth reset and loaded up my alt, found his house halfway into my path. I did manage to work around him, but that required shifting the path, which required shifting the bridge that was leading from that path, which required demolishing and rebuilding my alt's house, with about 7mil worth of expansions, since it was blocking where the new bridge needed to go. Sigh!!!

The moral of this story is, never look at pictures of cute animals on tumblr while doing the reset trick..... lmao

Yeah, I'll definitely try to deal with it first, I think. I mean, what's the hope of getting Genji again? So yeah. It's just so utterly frustrating and I'm scared it will happen with my next dreamie again since I obviously have the attention span of a rock. I mean, I suppose it could be worse and he could have put himself in front of my house or anything, but still...he destroyed my whole town layout. X_X

Manual house placement would rock so much, yes.

Ugh! I feel your pain! Genji actually faked me out with not moving in once. I TT'd for 4 days and he never showed up. (I got him from the campsite) So I assumed something messed up in game and he wasn't going to move in so I TT'd back to the original day.. Big mistake. He decided to show up after all.. Right in front of the cafe.. I never trusted him again. >_<

Ugh. I don't know why Nook couldn't just visit us on the day a plot was due to be placed. Then we could decide exactly where we want a villager to live just like with our characters, without the hassle of resetting a bazillion times. I mean, considering one of the main features of the game is customisation, it's surprising they didn't consider it. Although perhaps they wanted to remain faithful to previous editions in that respect.

Hmm...But then I'd want to be able to alter villager exteriors too...

I guess knowing that I'm not the only one with this problem makes me feel a bit better, but I agree that it would be nice if no one would have this problem at all and we could pick positions for the villager houses. But then again, since we were allowed to pick the place for our house, I guess the villagers ae allowed the same, haha. I still want to strangle Genji, though. My maaaaap...I already will have to cycle Kabuki out and then back because he was one of my starters and his house is in a place where I want my alt to have her house, so I don't feel like doing this for another villager, but...X_X

If you already need to do the cycle for another villager, doesn't that work out perfectly? Move out Kabuki, then Genji, then do the 16 and get both of them back.

True, but I don't TT, so it will take endless amounts of time and I also don't have the campsite since I can't decide on a spot for it (lol), so yes, things are dfficult.

16-villager cycling without time travel?

You, my friend, are nuts!

Yup, I am.

Well, maybe I will TT later, but only after I got the Emporium (which will take a long time still since I only have the second store). I don't want to ruin the game experience for me and decided to not-TT until everything is unlocked on main street.

I think that's a good idea!

Of course, I could be biased, 'cause that was the same idea I had, heh.

Although I wasn't able to remain fully faithful to that since I TTed a big jump relatively early after release to confirm once and for all that time travel replenished grass... but that was for SCIENCE, I tell you! SCIENCE!

Haha, awesome! :D And I just got the info from Timmy that the store will be closed for the next change tomorrow. Yay! So I'm close to stage three, at least. Still, so many days ahead of me still and the full Gracie thing, ugggh.

And yeah, if only for my grass, I will need to TT one day. It looks horrible, I tell you. I just am too impatient to stop running, especially since Kabuki's house is as far away from the beach as possible, so I always end up trapping him there for the wetsuit trick and need to run through the whole town every five minutes then.

I made all 4 of my characters the same day so I had to live with every single villager's house placement so yeah.

Tried to at least have some control by temporarily placing larger public works (like the fenced area) and removing them after.

This just happened to me this morning. I lucked out, and now Phoebe is in a good spot.

Sorry, hurr :p But then again I don't care as much where they put houses unless it's like on the other side of town :p Don't have many paths either.

Maybe consider setting paths? If not patterns, then use the dirt to your advantage by making dirt roads. My town's roads are all lined with bushes, trees, and flowers, and when I wear down the grass it looks pretty dang slick.

Of course, my own 16-cycle adventure has annihilated every last one of my paths...

I asked my mum to buy my little sister a copy of New Leaf for her birthday back in September, so she did. My little sister played the game for about 2 days and then grew bored of it, so I decided to use this to my advantage and use her town to cycle villagers to find one of my dreamies. My sister didn't even realize that her copy of the game was missing up until she saw me playing as her character, so she asks for it back, plays it for about 5 minutes and then gets bored and puts it in her 3DS case. I asked her if I could use it the next day and she said yes, so I do. I finally get one of my dreamies to move (Poncho, the bear-cub) and she sees that I'm playing it again and decides to take it back, so I plead her NOT to time travel because I already have 10 villagers in my town and one of mine is fortunately leaving. So what does she do? She time travels just out of spite so that I won't be able to get the villager that I had wanted. I even asked her 3-4 times NOT to time travel. SHE NEVER USUALLY TIME TRAVELS!!! So in response, I've deleted all of her patterns that she had created.

My little sister is a female dog.

Yeah, I do want to set up paths, but I can't yet because a) Kabuki still prevents me from creating my alt because he blocks the house space I want to use and the path I picked has 12 patterns and b) My starting villagers have wonderfully lined up where I want to set my main road, straight down from the train station. I also still can't decide where to put the cafe...
See, here is my map:

Dotty lives left and down from the town hall, in the bottom left corner. Genji has more or less smacked his plot down in the middle of the line between Re-Tail and the Town Hall pond, around the height of the left beach slope. Kabuki has the house on the island which is closest to the right bridge. I want to make a path downwards from the station, but Baabara, Axel and Papi all have their houses there, so before they move (and I decide if I want the cafe next to Re-Tail or to the right of the station), I can't do anything.

Arrgh, why couldn't Genji have lined up with Dotty like he was supposed to?!
