If someone gives you an insect that they caught, does it count in your encyclopedia?

Quite often I'm asked to catch them for the villager but you can't volunteer them.

Arize is right. but even if you get it, it wouldn't count in your encyclopedia because you techinically didn't catch it.

You can get fish and bugs from villagers by buying them from their houses, but that does not count as catching them. You can donate them to the museum though.
