Information on villagers and them moving

My ds broke yesterday. I am getting a new one next friday. Is there any way I can stop villagers from moving without amiibos? I am worried cookie is going to move out. She was the last villager to move in though. How can I stop villagers from moving? On my last copy, before my ds broke the first time, my favorite olaf moved without telling me but i talked to him every day and said no every time he asked to move.

If you know the last day you played then just start up your new DS to that date and tt forward every day talking to cookie to make sure she doesn't move out. If not, start by loading up a new character to make sure she hasn't moved out, and save that character before deleting so you at least have the chance to stop her from moving

Really? Thank god. At least it will only be a week without playing. The last time it broke i went 5 weeks without playing.
