Increasing the maximum number of villagers?

Considering the switch can support 8 player houses on an island in addition to 10 villagers, I wonder if the option to have more than 10 villagers will open up in the future, either through free updates or even paid dlc. Deciding on my 10 villagers was an interesting exercise and I can't help but feel 15 villagers as per the first game would be ideal - not quite 2 per personality type, but there's definitely space to fit another 5 houses. Especially if you're not rocking a full 8 profiles all playing on the same island.

I'd be very much happy being able to pick up another 3 or so villagers who almost, but not quite, made my current top 10 cut - if we were able to have more than one island on a switch then I'd just start a second one, but picking up a new switch for that feels somewhat steep.

Anyone else hoping the villager limitation expands in the future, or does 10 feel like a sweet spot for you?

I'd love to be able to get some more faces, especially since you can fully control how many villagers you want in this game! I'd love if they added a new personality or two along with it, though. Or didn't gender-lock personalities anymore ;-; Though I doubt they'll be adding any more new villagers.

I hope it expands. The villagers are my favourite feature of the game and would love to add more to my island. I struggled choosing my dream villagers as I had quite a selection to choose from. However if 15 villagers were able to live on my island, I would get to add the villagers I didn't choose, to my island, which I would love.

It would be interesting, but they could also add some sort of apartment building that could house whatever additional number of villagers they decide on if they don't want to lock out the people who use more than a single character on their island (since you'd eventually run out of space to build on).

I hope they’d include the ability to choose more villagers in place of the other seven players. The maximum number of residents in my island will only be two. No one else will fill up the remaining 6 spots so I’d love if it could instead go to more animal friends.

I hope so, because idk how anyone would use all 8 player slots unless the dream suite is introduced again and people want to make story-related islands again like Aika village.

This will probably never happen, but it would be cool if we could upgrade the campsite to a hotel so it can carry around 5 villagers that change daily. It would kinda make sense considering Tom Nook would probably up to the idea of opening up the island to tourism and making more profit from it.

More villagers means more repeated dialogue...

I wouldn't want more villagers without more villager personality types.

I'm perfectly alright with more repeated dialogue to be fair, that doesn't really bother me much. More villagers around the place would still be more chances to see them interacting, going about their day, crafting and so on.

I wouldn't want more than 10. I'm used to having 10 villagers from New Leaf, and I let most of my villagers move when they ask, so I see new faces.

I think anything over 12 would be overwhelming, personally. The island feels like just the right size as it is, and new shops are speculated to come in updates
If new villager places are also added, things will start to feel real crowded real quick

Would love to have more than 10. Even just 12 I'd been immensely happy with. And the game could keep it that once you hit 10 people will want to move out so anyone who wants to keep it to 10 could just not build any more plots.

Absolutely agree... for me, even 12 would feel great. I’ll never have more than two player houses, so it seems wasteful to me that the game is allowing the space to make !6! more player slots when I could have more villagers.

I'm all about getting as many villigiers in as possible. the island feels so deserted. I want more in regardless of repeated dialogue.
