Inaccuracies in ACNH

this is more of a game mechanic, but how is it that our characters can do construction work for hours on end (literally building up then breaking down cliffs, and digging water from the ground then burying it with enough soil that grass can grow again) without needing to eat or passing out from exhaustion? I think it would have been a nice touch if we had to eat a fruit to do a certain amount of landscaping, since these days my fruit trees are just for decoration. and on this not, harvest moon had a game mechanic where your character would pass out if you made them work too much or skip sleep but I'm glad that wasn't added to animal crossing cause between spiders and tarantulas my character already passes out enough as it is haha

this would have controlled burnt out tbh. cool of you to point out lol.

- In real life, you store recipes in a box. In ACNH life, you store them on the floor.
Yeah, Nintendo has some explaining to do with that whole recipe situation.

still annoyed that this would have been a good opportunity for the "tiny library" or other cabinets, or bookshelves to be of use.

  • Physics is my greatest weakness, but why/how does a watering can break while the vaulting pole and ladder do not?

although i'm in favor of the ladder & the pole not breaking, since we're talking about inaccuracies, this is really something i thought of early on. the game is new so a lot of us were wondering if it would break or not, my friends asked me that a lot and was worried they'be be stuck somewhere lol. we just assumed it would since all tools break. fishing rods & nets are understandable, and highkey has a purpose to break (both in reality & in-game) because we'd earn money from our catches. but it's really silly to me that water can breaks so quickly just by simply watering flowers, yet even those tools we use for terraforming all day won't. ever.

The villagers failing to catch any insect or fish is totally inaccurate. :ROFLMAO:

And also, how much did Tom Nook spend with putting all those fireworks for several hours? He's probably too rich to afford blasting them into the skies like nothing.

It drives me nuts that the frog villagers don’t wear anything in rain yet the octopi and penguins do.

In reality, it’s not possible to get real art that are exactly like what you see in your museum. They might be all replicas of actual art than the art themselves. Cause if you were to get the actual art, that would’ve been illegal. I would also like to mention that some of the fake art in New Leaf (not New Horizons) can be pretty offensive or insulting.

The hamster cage item is animal abuse.

You should not house a hamster in a cage as small as that. It's extremely outdated pet care to think they only need that much space. We know now that hamsters need a minimum of a 20 gallon tank to live in, though that is also on the small side. 30 gallons is acceptable, but 40 gallons is the recommendation.

It's safe to say this thing is closer to the plastic little cubes you get at most pet-stores which are only big enough to fit a house and a wheel and leave zero space for movement. Hamsters run about 6 miles every night! They need way more than just a wheel to feel comfortable filling their natural needs. Not to mention imagine living your whole life in a room which is only big enough to fit your bed and a fridge. Eugh.

I personally love hamsters but I just cannot use the hamster cage item in game. I know it's fictional but it just makes me sad.

"In New Horizons
When either donating to the museum or selecting "Tell me more about this!", Blathers the curator will say (with abhorrence):

"As giant spiders go, the tarantula is said to be quite docile. But have you ever seen such foul fuzziness?! It is a fact, tarantulas have barbed belly hair! I say again... BARBED. BELLY. HAIR! These awful arachnids let loose their spiky, itchy hairs to protect themselves from predators. But seeing how tarantulas also prey on frogs, mice, and even birds, one must ask... Who needs protecting from whom?! Hoo! Who indeed!"

I've kept various species of tarantulas over 20+ years now. Not all tarantulas are docile by any means, and it depends on the individual animal. Also, why is fuzziness foul? The villagers are fuzzy and you don't complain about them lol. Tarantulas do not have barbed belly hair. Many new world species have what are called urticating hairs on the back of their abdomens which they will kick into the air if they feel threatened, but not all tarantulas have this defense mechanism. Ok, Blathers, that's like confusing your stomach with your butt, buddy. Only a handful of tarantula species prey on frogs, mice, and birds, in the wild and it's very very rare. Most arachnids, especially tarantulas, are very shy creatures that want nothing to do with anyone and will sooner run than try to defend themselves. Imagine living a life where everything is usually giant sized compared to you and wants you as a snack. You'd be scared and defensive too! Blathers, I must ask, were you traumatized by insects or arachnids as a chick? Are you ok? You really seem to hate them whenever I bring one to donate. :(

Protip: If you see a spider moving in your direction, blow on it softly and it should go the other way. The C02 and air pressure from your breath is very effective. This is how they often wrangle(d) tarantulas and spiders on movie sets.

I agree with @Sheep Villager also regarding the hamster thing. Well said.

This feels petty to point out, but weeds don't change species every season...

Your physical ability to violently shake a tree as thick as the trees in-game, given your doorknob hands and drumstick arms, is likely none at all, though you will probably agitate some bees/wasps by attempting to do so regardless. It also probably takes more than three axe swings to fell a tree of that thickness, regardless of your upper body strength

All human beings are not the same height/weight/build

You can't change your skin color, nose shape, mouth shape, eye shape or hair length by looking in a mirror, and what a world it would be if you could

In real life, you probably won't always get near-immediate permission from the local authorities to do extreme landscaping anywhere you want on an island. You would probably also not be able to regularly obtain said permission through a phone app

In real life, islands would probably be subjected to volcanoes, hurricanes, tsunamis and earthquakes quite often. Come to think of it, wouldn't having extreme weather conditions be interesting in-game? What if you woke up one morning in the winter and your in-game house was snowed in? Or your island flooded due to a hurricane?

If you were to place a campfire next to a wooden house and the wind blew in the direction of the house, you would not have the logical end-result of a burned-down house. Also fires don't seem to release a lot of smoke, which you would normally be able to notice a column of from a distance. If you place a leaf campfire on top of grass, you would similarly not have the logical end-result of California

edit: if the campfire is contained and you do not consistently provide it with more fuel, it should go out at some point and not keep blazing 24/7
